Mere poll gimmick, Delhi govt has no funds to implement schemes: BJP
Strongly criticising former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj pointed out at Kejriwal’s unfulfilled promise of Rs 2,100 per month for women in Punjab during the 2022 election campaign, which she claimed has yet to result in any actual disbursements as on December 2024. “Kejriwal promised Rs 1,000 per month to women in Delhi during the Lok Sabha elections, got forms filled, and yet not a single rupee has been transferred to any woman’s account,” Swaraj said, questioning the credibility of the Chief Minister’s claims.
About the Sanjeevani Yojna, Swaraj labeled it as a “political stunt,” especially given the financial difficulties facing Delhi’s budget, which is currently running a Rs 7,000 crore deficit. “The Sanjeevani scheme is nothing but an illusion. With such a deficit, how can Kejriwal even dream of implementing it?” Swaraj asked.
Speaking on the issue, BJP MP from South Delhi, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri Bidhuri questioned why AAP workers, rather than government officials, were tasked with the registration process for the government schemes. “If these are government schemes, why are AAP workers registering people? The lack of official registration means the public is being fooled,” he said. The BJP leader also expressed concern over Atishi remaining a silent spectator despite being present during the announcement.
Meanwhile, objecting to the Sanjeevani Yojana, Kuljeet Chahal, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) vice-chairman argued that the scheme was redundant since the central government’s Ayushman Bharat already covers over 50 crore people across the country.
