Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa conducted an inspection of the newly installed automatic misting system - a high-tech intervention designed to suppress dust particles and reduce carbon emissions - along Lodhi Road here on Friday.

A similar system is already operational on DDA-maintained roads in Dwarka, with expansion plans underway for several key corridors.

During the inspection of the Lodhi Road stretch, Minister Sirsa said: “Delhi is transforming. We are deploying bold, data-driven and technology-backed solutions to fight air pollution. The automatic misting system is one such innovation that will become a benchmark for other states.”

The system at Lodhi Road covers 560 meters and comprises 15 poles, each fitted with 30 high-pressure misting nozzles (180° and 360° types) capable of delivering ultra-fine water mist at 40 BAR pressure. Supported by a 10 HP pump, RO units and stainless-steel pipelines, the infrastructure has been built at a cost of Rs 34 lakh.

In addition to Lodhi Road and Dwarka, similar systems are being installed along Africa Avenue (850 meters) and Shanti Path (900 meters). Upcoming phases will extend misting installations to more than 25 heavily trafficked roads, including Tilak Marg, Zakir Hussain Marg, Bhawandas Road, Ashoka Road, and others.

Minister Sirsa said the city’s broader pollution-control strategy includes the deployment of 1,000 water sprinklers, 140 anti-smog guns, 200 mechanical sweepers, 70 electric litter pickers and 38 water tankers — all monitored using GPS, sensors and a central dashboard. All commercial high-rises above 3,000 square meters have also been directed to install rooftop anti-smog guns.

“Previous governments failed Delhi. They made promises but left the city gasping under pollution. Under our triple-engine government, Delhi is witnessing measurable progress. We are building with science and technology, not scams,” said Sirsa, crediting the success of the project to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
