Minister celebrates Raksha Bandhan with specially-abled children

Minister for Social Welfare, Ravinder Indraj Singh, celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Saturday with specially-abled children and staff at the Asha Kiran Shelter Home in Rohini.

During his visit, the minister interacted with the children. The children tied rakhis on his wrist as part of the traditional festivities. He described the children’s smiles as a blessing for the government and a reflection of social progress.

“Raksha Bandhan is a symbol of affection and a pledge of protection,” Indraj said, emphasising the significance of the occasion in fostering bonds of care and responsibility.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the holistic development, care and rehabilitation of specially-abled children, stating efforts were being made to improve their quality of life.

“Officials have been directed to ensure that all children residing at Asha Kiran Shelter Home receive access to high-quality healthcare, education, sports and recreational facilities,” the minister added.
