Miscreants open fire at man over monetary dispute

Victim escapes unhurt, hunt on to nab accused

A 25-year-old man was shot at by three men over monetary dispute in the Geeta colony area of East Delhi, the police said on Wednesday, adding that no arrests had been made in this regard by far. The victim, however, escaped unhurt.

According to the police, a PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Geeta Colony police station around 11 pm on Tuesday.

The victim, Shivam, a resident of Old Arjun Nagar, Jagatpuri, told the police that he had lent money to a couple - Sheetal and her husband Sonu of Kudan Nagar.

Despite requests, they were not returning the money. Shivam also had an argument with the couple on the issue near Jagatpuri Red light on Tuesday morning.

Later at night, when Shivam and his friend Jatin went to Taj enclave to sort out the matter, three men - Shadab, Harshu and Raman - confronted them, and a scuffle broke out between them.

During the scuffle, Shadab fired two rounds at Shivam. He somehow managed to escape unhurt, following which the trio fled the spot.

A case under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS and under the Arms Act had been registered. Efforts were on to nab the accused, said an official.

The police said a manhunt had also been launched to trace the couple. They said Shivam had a case against him in the past under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
