Misusing photos with officers: Delhi Police to prepare list of ‘undesirable persons’

In a significant move to curb the misuse of police contacts by individuals involved in organised crime, the Delhi Police have directed its senior officers to identify and prepare a list of such “undesirable persons.”

According to officials, it has been observed that a large number of people attempt to establish proximity with police officers, often getting themselves photographed with them.

These individuals then use such associations to project influence in their locality and strengthen their role in criminal networks.

To tackle the issue, the Special Commissioners of Police (Law & Order) have been tasked with compiling a detailed list of such persons by August 31. The list will be submitted to the Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) and will further be reviewed by a high-level committee.

As per a senior police official, the committee will comprise of representatives from Law & Order Zone 1, 2, Crime Branch, Special Cell and Intelligence Unit. It will take the final decision on such matters.

Senior officials said the exercise aims to insulate police officers from undue influence and ensure that criminal elements are not able to misuse their association with law enforcement agencies.
