Locals pelted stones at a DTP (District Town Planning) enforcement team and police personnel who had come to demolish illegal warehouses at Kankrola village today. The JCB driver suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a hospital. The policemen had to run to safety. Later in the day, an FIR was registered at Kherki Daula police station.

According to the police, District Town Planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia along with his team reached Kankrola on Monday afternoon to demolish illegal warehouses built over 6.8 acres. Now, these are built on revenue property of the village under Manesar tehsil.

As the team started their work, villagers arrived. They opposed the demolition and soon became violent, attacking the team with stones and bricks. The situation kept escalting, forcing the officers and personnel to flee. The DTP team then went to the Kherki Daula police station to register a complaint.

“A large number of people have built illegal warehouses Kankrola. They were served a notice, but they didn’t budge. Now, a complaint has been filed by the duty magistrate and assistant town planner Rahul Dabra,” Madholia said.

As many as 60 people have been booked, including Rakesh Yadav, husband of Manesar Mayor Dr Inderjeet Yadav, Manesar ACP said.
