The NIA is working in close coordination with the Delhi Police, J&K Police, Haryana Police, UP Police and various sister agencies. The NIA said it was pursuing multiple leads to unearth the larger conspiracy behind the bombing and identify others involved in the case.

The Delhi Police Special cell had filed an FIR in this regard under UAPA, which was later transferred to the NIA. The special cell had invoked sections of criminal conspiracy in this FIR.

Additionally, the Crime Branch unit had also registered two separate FIRs against Haryana’s Al-Falah University, which is at the centre of the storm after links emerged between the institution and the Red Fort bomber.

One FIR pertains to allegations of cheating, while another has been lodged under sections related to forgery. The FIRs were registered following a complaint by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The blast took place around 6:52 pm on November 10 on the Netaji Subhash Marg in the heart of the national capital.

The impact was so powerful that the vehicle was blown to pieces, scattering body parts across the road. At least 15 nearby vehicles, including six cars and two e-rickshaws, either caught fire or were severely damaged. Dr Umer un-Nabi, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, was reportedly driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort. The vehicle entered Delhi from Faridabad.

NIA makes eighth arrest in Nov 10 blast

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested another key accused in connection with blast near the iconic Red Fort, officials said. The accused has been identified as Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, a resident of Baramulla in J&K. He is the eighth accused arrested so far in the case. He was nabbed by an NIA team from Delhi.

As per the NIA, Naseer was involved in the conspiracy behind the attack that killed 13 persons and injured several others in the Red Fort area.

As per NIA investigations, Bilal had knowingly harboured Umar Un Nabi by providing him logistical support. He is also accused of destructing evidence related to the terrorist attack, the agency said.
