The Indian Army and the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) on Tuesday honoured 25 women — either wives or mothers of soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty — at a special ceremony in the Capital.

The event, titled *Veer Nari Shaurya Samman Samaaroh 2025*, is being held from October 6–8 in New Delhi as part of Infantry Day celebrations.

Sunita Dwivedi, President of AWWA and wife of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, felicitated the 25 women for their sacrifices. The honoured women are the family members of soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in Jammu & Kashmir, Siachen, Arunachal Pradesh, and during counter-terrorism operations.

Earlier in the day, various arms of the Indian Army conducted presentations detailing schemes, entitlements, health benefits, educational opportunities and employment facilitation available for the families of serving and fallen soldiers.

The event aims to recognise the resilience and contribution of Veer Naris — women who have lost their husbands or sons in military service — and to keep them informed of support systems in place for their welfare.
