In an apparent reference to the AAP-led Delhi government’s continued clash with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the city’s governance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said Delhi needs a government of ‘taalmel’ (coordination), not that of ‘takraar’ (conflict).

“Together we have to free Delhi from the disaster of loot and lies,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a gathering in Dwarka area here. The Prime Minister accused the AAP of engaging in constant fights instead of focusing on governance. “Over the past years, they have only been fighting — with Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and with the Centre. If such people continue to rule Delhi, the city will keep lagging behind,” he warned.

During the rally, the Prime Minister launched a scathing attack on the AAP-ruled Delhi government saying that the latter has looted the national capital and squeezed out its money.

“AAP leaders have together made Delhi an ATM to shine their politics and have squeezed out Delhi’s money, looted it. When they need money to contest elections in other states, they loot the people of Delhi. Get rid of these AAP-da people as soon as possible,” the PM appealed.

Modi also showcased the recently inaugurated Yashobhoomi convention centre, terming it a glimpse of the BJP’s vision for a modern Delhi.

“The BJP wants to make Delhi modern and a glimpse of that can be seen in Dwarka after the Centre constructed the majestic Yashobhoomi here,” he said.

The Prime Minister told the people that once a BJP-led government is formed in Delhi, they would take tough action against corruption.

“As soon as the BJP forms the government here, there will be a stricter crackdown on AAP-da’s corruption,” he said, adding that the incumbent party had been trying to suppress a damning CAG report.

Modi also cornered the AAP government over the deteriorating condition of the Yamuna and alarming levels of air pollution.

Reacting to the PM’s charges, the AAP said Delhi people do not believe his words as he is all about ‘jumlas’.

“Whenever PM Modi speaks, he spreads lies. Even today, he hurled abuses at Delhi’s elected government and Arvind Kejriwal — the very government that presented the Delhi Model to the nation,” the AAP said.
