In a move to enhance commuter experience and promote digitisation, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had launched the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT), officials said on Thursday.

The initiative was introduced by DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr Vikas Kumar, during a launch event at Metro Bhawan.

The new system aims to simplify daily travel for metro passengers by eliminating the need to purchase individual QR tickets for each journey.

Dr Kumar said, “We are pleased to launch the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) as part of our ‘Ease of Booking’ initiative. MJQRT simplifies travel with a single QR code, enhancing convenience and offering eco-friendly benefits. This innovation reflects our commitment to improving the passenger experience on Delhi Metro.”

The MJQRT will be available exclusively on the Delhi Metro Sarathi app (Momentum 2.0), allowing passengers to manage their journeys directly through the platform.

Registered users can start with an initial balance of Rs 150, and no security deposit is required to avail the service.

Additionally, the app offers flexible recharge options, allowing passengers to add value in multiples of Rs 50, with a maximum limit of Rs 3,000.

The system also aims to provide cost-effective solutions for metro users. Commuters will receive a ten per cent discount during peak hours (8 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 9 pm) and a per cent discount during off-peak hours.

"With MJQRT, passengers can now enjoy seamless, hassle-free metro travel with just one QR code. This initiative is not only focused on convenience but also contributes to a greener environment by reducing reliance on physical tickets and smart cards," Dr Kumar added.

Security is another key feature of the MJQRT system. In case of loss or theft of the mobile device, the remaining balance remains protected. Users can recover their balance by logging into the app from another device.

The MJQRT is part of the DMRC’s broader ‘Ease of Booking’ initiative, which focuses on offering passengers multiple ticketing and payment options.

Starting tomorrow, app users will be able to access the MJQRT and enjoy the numerous benefits it offers.
