NDMC clears key proposals for citizen welfare

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) convened a council meeting on Tuesday and approved several proposals aimed at citizen welfare and infrastructure enhancement. The meeting, presided over by Chairman Amit Yadav, alongside Vice-Chairperson Satish Upadhyay and MLA and member Virender Singh Kadian among other members.
One of the significant proposals approved by the council involves the engagement of NGOs for setting up a semi-automated kitchen. This initiative aims to provide freshly cooked hot mid-day meals to 7,000-8,000 students in six NDMC/Navyug schools in the Gole Market area under the PM Poshan Scheme.
Additionally, the council endorsed the NDMC Right of Way (ROW) Policy for areas under its jurisdiction, focusing on underground infrastructure and overground telecommunication infrastructure to streamline the process of setting up communication cellular mobile towers, facilitating better connectivity across the NDMC area.
Furthermore, the council approved the strengthening of water supply infrastructure assets, including individual piped water connections in JJ clusters and unauthorised colonies under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, aiming to enhance access to clean water for residents in underserved areas.
To improve water quality in Kushak Nallah, the council gave the nod to the implementation of decentralised wastewater treatment solutions, addressing environmental concerns and enhancing the quality of life for residents near the water body.
Besides, the council sanctioned the collection, transportation, and dumping of construction and demolition (C and D) waste from the NDMC area, highlighting its commitment to sustainable waste management practices.
Additionally, the council approved the operation, repair and maintenance of existing public toilets (PTUs) and community toilets (CTUs) in exchange for advertisement rights on a public-private partnership model, aiming to improve sanitation facilities while generating revenue through advertising.
Lastly, in response to the growing demand for dental care services, the council sanctioned the creation of additional senior and junior resident posts at the Dental Care Clinic on Dharam Marg.
