The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) exam in two sessions on the same day on August 11.

Government sources said this year the exams would be held at around 500 centres instead of the usual 1,200 in order to ensure reliability of these centres.

"Private centres have mostly been abolished and we will conduct tests in around 500 reliable centres this year to ensure exams are held in a fool-proof manner," top government sources said after the Union Health Ministry postponed the NEET-PG from July 23 to August 11 amid exam malpractice apprehensions.

Sources said most students have been given centres in their own cities.

Since we are conducting the exam in reliable centres only with fool-proof arrangements, we have decided to conduct the exam in two sessions on the same day to accommodate all students in lesser number of centres, a top official said.

The move comes in the wake of paper leak allegations shrouding the NEET-UG exam.
