Several new twists emerged in the Nikki murder case on Tuesday with a hospital memo coming to light wherein the burns sustained by the deceased have been attributed to a cylinder blast at her household.

In another turn of events, the Ghaziabad Police also have the CCTV footage which shows Nikki’s husband Vipin around his shop at the time of the alleged crime.

Vipin is in police custody for allegedly setting his 28-year-old wife ablaze for dowry.

The hospital memo in question says the patient (Nikki) was severely burnt due to a gas cylinder explosion in the house.

The memo is a police intimation form regarding medico-legal case (MLC) from Fortis Hospital, Greater Noida, which mentions, “The patient has been badly burnt due to a gas cylinder explosion in the house and is critical.”

Following the memo, the police are trying to find out who informed the hospital about the gas cylinder explosion and they will also record the statement of the doctors.

Meanwhile, the police refuted the claim of gas cylinder blast saying they did not find any evidence of such a claim during the checking of the crime scene.

In cases of accident and burn where patients are brought to hospitals, doctors are bound by law to inform the local police and a MLC is prepared by the hospital based on the statement of those who rush such victims to the hospital.

A purported video of Nikki’s funeral on Friday morning, a day after the crime, has also emerged. It shows that her father-in-law and some other relatives from the husband’s family are present. In the video, Nikki’s father-in-law is seen lighting the pyre and performing rituals.

Another CCTV footage of a nearby bakery shop has surfaced in which Vipin is seen first eating something and then crossing the road to enter his house.

In the same CCTV footage, all three children (one of Nikki and two of Vipin’s elder brother) are seen playing.

The cops are now trying to establish the chronology of the events that took place on the day of the incident.

They have also seized the mobile phone of Nikki’s sister Kanchan who is said to have shot the crime video (where Nikki is seen being set ablaze) and are now trying to retrieve some information from the device.

Meanwhile, Nikki’s father Bhikhari Singh said Instagram reels were not the reason behind her killing. “Vipin’s mother also used Instagram. So, reels are not the reason behind Nikki’s killing,” he said. He reiterated that the reason behind the killing was dowry.
