A New York-bound Air India plane carrying 239 passengers from Mumbai was diverted to the Capital early morning on Monday after it received a bomb threat, according to officials.

The flight — A119 — received a threat on social media platform X, wherein the user had posted that the Air India flight had RDX planted inside the plane, police sources said.

“An Air India flight operating from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi following a security concern arising out of bomb threat,” DCP, IGI Airport, Usha Rangnani said.

The aircraft was stationed at the IGI Airport, and all standard safety protocols were followed to ensure the safety of passengers and 19 crew members on board. However, after following security protocol, the police found nothing suspicious inside the flight.

A spokesperson for Air India said, “Our colleagues on the ground are making sure to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption.”
