The campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) buzzed with political talk on Monday as nominations for the JNUSU elections 2025–26 were filed.
From early morning, students representing major political outfits, including the All India Students Association (AISA), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Students Federation of India (SFI), and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) gathered outside the election committee office to submit their papers.
The nomination window, open from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm, saw long queues of student leaders accompanied by their supporters, chanting slogans and waving flags.
According to the university’s election schedule, the list of verified nominated candidates will be displayed at 10 am on October 28, followed by a withdrawal window from 2 pm to 5 pm. The final list of contestants will be published by evening. Polling is set for November 4, and counting of votes will take place on November 6.
With the political temperature rising and alliances taking shape, all eyes are now on which student front will capture the imagination of JNU’s electorate this year.
