A day after Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members staged a protest against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to the Delhi University campus, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has accused ABVP members of carrying out a violent attack on the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) office.

Speaking at a press conference held at the site on Tuesday, NSUI leaders alleged the attack was an attempt to intimidate DUSU office bearers amid growing student activism on key campus issues.

NSUI Delhi in-charge Honey Bagga described the alleged vandalism as a “clear reflection of ABVP’s frustration,” attributing it to the growing visibility of NSUI-backed DUSU office bearers such as president Ronak Khatri and joint secretary Lokesh Choudhary. “Our leaders have been raising critical concerns related to college infrastructure and the rights of Dalit, Adivasi and backward community students. This attack is an attempt to silence that voice,” he said.

Bagga further claimed that ABVP, aligned with the RSS, has long neglected student welfare and failed to address systemic issues within the university. “Their ideology is anti-democratic and they have never stood up for marginalised groups,” he added.

NSUI leaders linked the incident to broader concerns about caste-based discrimination in the university. They referred to a recent visit by Rahul Gandhi to DU, during which several SC, ST and OBC students reportedly shared grievances about vacant reserved seats in faculty appointments and PhD admissions being unjustly marked as “Not Found Suitable.”
