The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections have sparked a controversy after the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) accused the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) of tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

According to the NSUI, deliberate blue ink markings were found on ballot buttons next to ABVP candidates’ names in Hansraj College and Kirori Mal College. The student body claims that this tactic was aimed at drawing voters’ attention toward ABVP candidates, thereby influencing the outcome of the polls.

Calling the development a “blatant attempt to rig the democratic process,” the NSUI alleged that the Delhi University administration was acting under the influence of the ABVP and RSS leadership. The organisation argued that such actions compromised the integrity and transparency of student elections.

NSUI leaders and candidates, including Joslyn Nandita Choudhary and Lavkush Bhadana, visited several campuses to raise the issue. They expressed strong disapproval over the alleged failure of the election system and condemned efforts to undermine NSUI’s presidential contender, who they said represented empowerment, justice and student leadership.

In a statement, the NSUI demanded immediate intervention from the university election authorities to prevent further irregularities. “The administration must act urgently to restore student confidence in the democratic process and ensure free and fair elections,” the organisation said.

With voting still under way, these allegations have intensified the already heated contest for the four key posts in the DUSU panel, adding another layer of tension to one of the most closely watched student elections in the country.
