NSUI launches campaign against alleged voter fraud

On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday launched a campaign against alleged voter fraud, titled “Vote Chori Hatao.”

NSUI national president Varun Choudhary signed the first postcard addressed to the President of India at the “Voter Chori Canopy” set up for the launch of the campaign.

“It was Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi who gave 18-year-olds the right to vote. Today, on his birth anniversary, we are launching this campaign to protect that very right and to put an end to ‘vote chori’,” said Choudhary.

He accused the BJP-RSS combine and the Election Commission of undermining the electoral process. “The BJP-RSS nexus and the Election Commission have been completely exposed before the youth of this country. As part of this campaign, NSUI will be sending two lakh postcards to the President of India, demanding action to safeguard democracy,” he said.

Hundreds of students from Delhi University took part in the campaign, pledging to send postcards to the President seeking steps to ensure free and fair elections and protect young voters’ rights.

With this initiative, NSUI said it has sent a message that students across the country would not tolerate manipulation of the democratic process and will continue to fight for electoral integrity.
