The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) national president, Varun Choudhary, visited the AYUSH students’ protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.

Addressing the gathered students, Choudhary criticised the BJP government’s handling of the examination system, accusing it of creating loopholes to benefit certain individuals.

“The BJP government has consistently shown a tendency to manipulate the exam system for its benefit,” Choudhary stated. “The implementation of the National Exit Test (NExT) should be done with transparency and fairness. We stand with the AYUSH students in their demand to implement NExT from the new batch.”

The AYUSH students have been protesting for the timely implementation of NExT, ensuring that it is applied from the new batch, thereby not disrupting the current students’ academic and professional plans. Choudhary reaffirmed the NSUI’s support for the students’ legitimate demands.

Choudhary said, “We will not allow any government to play with the future of our students. The NSUI will continue to support and fight for the rights of the students.”

The NSUI called upon the authorities to address the concerns of the AYUSH students promptly and to implement the NExT exam in a manner that is fair to all students.

One of the AYUSH students, Natwar, said: “NExT was regulated in November 2023. In the regulation, they said students who joined internships before November 29, 2023, would not have to take the NExT, but those who joined afterwards would have to take it. Our only demand is that this new regulation should be applied to the new batch and not the older ones.”
