Operation Kavach: Police raid 784 locations, nab 90 narco offenders
The Delhi Police conducted raids in 784 locations and arrested 90 narco offenders under “Operation Kavach”, officials said on Friday. They also seized heroin, ganja, cocaine and alprazolam tablets.
Operation Kavach began on February 12 and continued till February 13 across the Capital.
“During these raids, 90 narco offenders were arrested in 87 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases, with the seizure of 553.05 grams of heroin, 43.028 kg of ganja, 199 grams of cocaine and 2,07,600 alprazolam tablets,” an official said.
Additionally, the Delhi Police registered 157 cases under the Delhi Excise Act, arresting 161 individuals, and confiscated 94 bottles and 432 cans of beer, 33,098 quarters of illicit liquor and five hookahs.
“Moreover, 29 persons were arrested in 27 Arms Act cases, with the recovery of a revolver, a pistol, six country-made pistols, 11 live cartridge, a surgical blade, 18 knives, Rs 24,000 in cash, two stolen motorcycles and two stolen rickshaws,” it added.
While 909 individuals were taken into preventive custody, 5,077 persons were detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act and 48 vehicles were also seized under
Section 66 of the DP Act (police to take charge of unclaimed property), another official said.
As part of the operation, raids were conducted at 784 locations across 15 districts, led by 150 teams from local police stations.
