Over 40 shanties gutted in fire in Delhi's Shahbad Daulatpur, no casualty
A massive fire engulfed over 40 shanties in the Bengali Basti in Outer North Delhi's Shahbad Daulatpur area of Rohini on Sunday evening. However, no injuries were reported in the incident, the police said.
Residents noticed smoke billowing from the settlement, following which they informed the police and the Fire Department about the incident.
The police said they got information regarding the fire at shanties in Bengali Basti, Shahbad Daulatpur area, at the Shahbad Dairy police station.
When the police reached the spot, they found around 45 temporary shanties engulfed in flames, an official said.
Eight fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. As many as 10 ambulances also sent to the spot, the official mentioned.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. No injuries were reported in the incident. Further enquiry is on into the matter, the police said.
On April 27 this year, two persons were killed after a massive fire gutted nearly 800 shanties in the same area.
