After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran valley, the Gurugram police have increased surveillance on Pakistani citizens living in Gurugram. The police sent back an 85-year-old Pakistani woman, who had come to India on a short-term tourist visa.

Currently, seven Pakistani citizens living in Gurugram are under strict surveillance of the Gurugram police. Their long-term visa or citizenship applications are pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

These include three Pakistani Hindus, who have been living in the district for years. Six of them have applied for long-term visas. They are waiting for guidelines or a visa from the Indian Government. One Pakistani woman is married to a man from Gurugram and both are currently living in Manesar.

According to the police, Nawaz Naseem (85) had come to Gurugram from Pakistan to meet her daughter Shahida. Shahida and her husband are involved in the hotel business and both live in the DLF Phase 1 area. The Gurugram police sent Nawaz Naseem to the Attari border via Delhi and Amritsar on Sunday.

There are 148 Kashmiri students in the colleges and universities of Gurugram. The police are also on alert for their security.

“At present, seven Pakistani citizens are living in Gurugram. These include three women and a girl child. Keeping security in mind, a Pakistani woman has been sent back. Apart from this, MHA’s guidelines are being awaited regarding the sending back or granting of visa to Pakistani citizens living in Gurugram who have a long-term visa. All of them are under police surveillance,” said Arpit Jain, DCP (Headquarters).
