Paramjeet Singh, a 1984 riot victim, is Anand Mahindra's 'Start-up Hero'. Here's why

Industrialist Anand Mahindra is often in the news for his interesting tweets. Now he has introduced his followers to his ‘start-up hero’, Delhi-based Paramjeet Singh, who was once the sole distributor of Rasna. In the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Paramjeet lost everything. After that he started his life anew by becoming a taxi driver. But after six years, he had a terrible accident and suffered serious injuries. After recovering, he now drives an auto.

Anand Mahindra tweeted: He is my ‘Start-up’ hero. What he has done takes much more spirit & courage then just starting up a business—he has restarted & reinvented his life…not just once, but twice…”

According to a report by The Better India, Paramjit Singh’s father was a civil servant. Paramjit used to be the sole distributor of Rasna brand, and had a huge warehouse in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, from where the delivery of Rasna was done through autos.

Then the 1984 riots happened. He lost his entire godown, 8 autos and even the dealership.

After failing to work in food companies, he started driving taxis.

After about six-seven years, he met a serious accident in Mussoorie and was in a coma for 13 days. In this accident, he suffered serious injuries to knee, rib and hand. After recovering from this, he re-started his life again. Now he drives an auto rickshaw.

Paramjeet is still full of life and has an adorable smile.
