People will show ‘corrupt AAP govt the door’: Khattar
Union Power and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday accompanied BJP candidates Manjinder Singh Sisra and Shweta Saini for filing of nomination papers for the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.
Shweta Saini is a BJP candidate from the Tilak Nagar Assembly constituency. Haryana’s Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda was also present during the filing of Saini’s nomination.
Speaking on the occasion, Khattar said people of Tilak Nagar were eager for a change and would show the “corrupt AAP government the door.”
Khattar also accompanied BJP’s Rajouri Garden candidate Manjinder Singh Sirsa for filing nominations from Rajouri Garden. Earlier, he campaigned for BJP candidate Vijender Gupta from the Rohini Assembly constituency. Gupta is eyeing a hat-trick here.
Terming the AAP government in Delhi as an “AAP-da (disaster) government, Khattar said the last 10 years were all about failed governance models in Delhi.
He emphasised that the people of Delhi were now in a mood for change and ready to accelerate the city’s development with a “double-engine government.”
Khattar also alleged rise in corruption under the AAP regime and cited the “Sheesh Mahal” (a pejorative term used by the BJP for AAP convener and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence) and liquor scams as examples. The minister said AAP leaders, including ministers, had been jailed on corruption charges and were now out on bail.
“They are misleading the public through deceptive campaigns,” Khattar, a star campaigner for the BJP in Delhi, said.
22 BJP candidates file papers
Meanwhile, a total of 22 BJP candidates filed their nomination papers for the upcoming Assembly elections during the auspicious ‘Vijay Muhurat’ on Thursday. The event was marked by an overwhelming presence of supporters. Among the notable candidates, BJP national secretary and Rajouri Garden contender Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who filed his nomination, thanked the people of Rajouri Garden for their immense support, claiming that the massive turnout was proof that the public was eager to end the rule of the “corrupt” AAP government and entrust the governance of Delhi to the BJP. His wife, Satwinder Kaur Sirsa, filed the nomination as his covering candidate.
Before heading to the nomination office, Sirsa led a huge roadshow with hundreds of supporters arriving in their vehicles from Khayala.
He expressed confidence that the BJP would win the elections and form a government dedicated to the welfare of all sections of society. “I will work hard to restore the old glory of Rajouri Garden,” he assured his supporters.
Other BJP candidates who filed their nominations included Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar; Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar; Pawan Sharma from Uttam Nagar; Harish Khurana from Moti Nagar; and Anil Sharma from RK Puram.
Key BJP leaders like MP Manoj Tiwari, Delhi BJP in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda and MP Ravi Kishan were present during filing of nominations.
