Aiming to promote awareness on traffic rules, the Delhi Police organised ‘Raahgiri Day’ at Connaught Place inner circle under the ‘Delhi Police Road Safety Week’ on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Shashank Jaiswal emphasised the event’s objective of prioritising public safety. He noted that despite rising traffic volumes, efforts directed towards road safety and engineering had led to a decrease in accident rates.
Several activities, such as plays and quiz competitions, were organised to improve awareness and comprehension of traffic regulations.
Jaiswal underscored the significance of involving children in such campaigns, noting their substantial influence on their parents in promoting safer road behaviour. He emphasised that messages conveyed by children would have a profound impact, resulting in positive changes in road conduct and contributing to a reduction in fatalities compared to previous years. — TNS
