Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released a special commemorative coin of Rs 125 on the 125th birth anniversary of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) founder Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) G Kishan Reddy was present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering through the video-conferencing, the Prime Minister talked about the coincidence of the birth anniversary of Prabhupada falling immediately after Janmashtami. He also noted that the occasion was taking place amid the celebration of 75th anniversary of Independence.
Modi said the ISKCON founder, an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, “was also a great devotee of Bharat”. — TNS
