The Nuh police arrested a Special Police Officer (SPO) deployed at the Rojka Meo police station for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 60,000 by promising to procure a bike from the police station. The accused, SPO Ajay Kumar, also threatened the youth to implicate him in a false case when he demanded his money back.
An FIR was registered against the accused at the Rojka Meo police station.
Following his appearance in Nuh court, the accused was remanded to one-day police custody for further questioning and investigation.
According to Mohammad Wasim, a resident of Rojka Meo village, he had recently opened a chicken shop in the area.
On February 26, 2023, SPO Ajay Kumar visited his shop to buy chicken and offered to help Wasim acquire two bikes at discounted prices. Kumar claimed that an auction of bikes was scheduled at the police station the following month.
A deal was subsequently made for a Splendor Plus and an Apache bike, with the SPO sharing pictures of both bikes on his WhatsApp. He claimed that the market value of both bikes was Rs 1.85 lakh, but Wasim would get them at a cheaper price. Kumar later took Wasim and his grandfather to the police station to view the bikes, and Wasim handed over Rs 60,000 to Kumar.
However, after several days, when Wasim contacted the SPO, he was told that the auction date had not arrived and that the bikes would only be delivered afterward. Despite repeated promises, Wasim became suspicious and demanded a refund. In response, Kumar allegedly threatened to implicate him in a false case.
Wasim further revealed that he had visited the SPO’s house in Sohna on July 15, 2023, where Kumar promised to return his money within a month. However, Kumar was transferred to another police station, and his phone was switched off, prompting Wasim to file a complaint.
On the basis of Wasim’s complaint, an FIR was lodged, leading to the arrest of SPO Ajay Kumar on Friday. “The accused has been produced in the court and taken on one-day police remand to recover the money from him,” said Inspector Aman Beniwal, SHO of the Rojka Meo Police Station.
