Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi intensified their campaign with strong criticism of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them “cowards” and “corrupt.”

Priyanka, who made her first appearance in the Delhi election campaign for the Congress, held rallies and roadshows across the national capital, hoping to attract women and young voters to the party’s cause.

Addressing a public meeting in Mustafabad, after a roadshow in Nangloi Jat, Priyanka highlighted the power of voting, saying: “The Constitution gave you (people of India) right to vote. It gives you the right to choose the government. Through this vote, you can strengthen the country and the Constitution.”

She criticised both Kejriwal and Modi for their failure to take responsibility. “PM Modi blames former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal blames Modi. Both of them do not take any responsibility,” Priyanka said, calling them “cowards” and “corrupt.”

While addressing a rally in Madipur, Rahul Gandhi accused Kejriwal of making false promises and lying to the public. Holding a poster of AAP’s leadership team, Rahul pointed out the absence of any Dalit, Adivasi, OBC or minority representation in the party’s top ranks.

“See here, this is a picture of Team Kejriwal’s top leadership — Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Atishi Singh, Sanjay Singh, Satyendra Jain, Raghav Chaddha, Sandeep Pathak, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Avadh Ojha. Show me one Dalit name, Adivasi, OBC, or minority community in this leadership,” Rahul said.

Rahul also took aim at Kejriwal’s failure to fulfil his promise to protect Dalits. “Your words are hollow. You promised to protect Dalits and minorities, but when the riots happened, you were absent. The Congress stood with you (the people) because we’re not opportunistic,” he said.

Recalling Kejriwal’s early promises to change politics, Rahul reminded the audience of his claims to introduce ‘clean politics.’

“When Kejriwal entered politics, the AAP chief claimed he wanted to introduce a new kind of politics. He even climbed a pillar and used to arrive in a small car. He came in a Wagon R and went straight into the parking of ‘Sheesh Mahal’,” Rahul said.

Addressing the ongoing issue of pollution in the Yamuna, Rahul challenged Kejriwal’s leadership. “Forget about Yamuna; you should drink the water from these jhuggi clusters and the regular water of Delhi,” he said.

“You blame others for polluting the water, but it was your responsibility to clean the Yamuna - a promise you made five years ago,” Rahul said.
