Probe ordered into scribe’s suicide at AIIMS

New Delhi, July 6

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan ordered an inquiry into the alleged suicide by journalist Tarun Sisodiya, who reportedly jumped to death from the fourth floor of AIIMS, New Delhi, today.

Sisodiya was undergoing Covid-19 treatment at AIIMS since June 24. Vardhan has sought a report into the matter in 48 hours.

In a statement, the AIIMS said Sisodiya was recovering fromCovid and was to be shifted from the ICU to the general ward today.

The hospital also said Sisodiya (37) had a brain surgery in March and during his Covid treatment he was having bouts of disorientation for which he was being treated.

The institute added that Sisodiya today ran out of the trauma centre to the fourth floor and broke the window pane to jump out. He couldn’t be resuscitated, the AIIMS said.

After a furore over the mysterious circumstances of Sisodiya’s death, Vardhan ordered an inquiry and sought a report in 48 hours.

“I have ordered the AIIMS Director to immediately get an official inquiry done into this incident, following which a high-level committee has been set up that will submit its report within 48 hours,” he added. — TNS
