Students continued protests at South Asian University (SAU) over the sexual assault of a student on the campus. They marched across the campus demanding justice for their classmate and friend who was allegedly sexually assaulted near the university auditorium on October 12.

The university constituted a committee on October 13 to investigate the matter, which will submit a detailed report within 10 working days. The administration stated that it is cooperating with the police and providing every detail sought during the inquiry.

“The university is cooperating closely with the police. We firmly condemn such incidents and want the culprit to be caught at the earliest. A special committee has also been set up, and we’re extending full support in the investigation,” a university official said.

Adding to the growing pressure, a delegation from the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) visited the campus and submitted a memorandum to SAU President Prof KK Aggarwal. They demanded strict action in the case, impartial probe, reconstitution of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), installation of CCTV cameras and enhanced campus security. The delegation also warned that protests would continue until justice is ensured and safety measures for female students are strengthened.

Holding placards and raising slogans, students gathered outside the administration block and called for accountability. “We are standing here not just for our friend, but for every student who deserves a safe and fair environment on the campus. It’s heartbreaking that someone we study with had to go through this, and we won’t stay silent until justice is done,” said Ayushi Verma, a student.

Palak, another protester, said, “The administration’s silence is painful. We are demanding accountability, not confrontation. Our friend deserves justice, and we want the university to take concrete action instead of making empty promises.”

Anshul Sharma, another student, said: “We just want justice for our friend. What happened to her is wrong, and the university should act fast. Every student deserves to feel safe here.”
