The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) on Monday submitted its report of a CD in the Delhi court in a case of public property defacement against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and two others.
The sealed report was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), who took it on record and directed that an additional copy be handed over to the investigation officer (IO). The court also instructed the IO to complete the probe, listing the matter for further proceedings on August 27.
An FSL officer was present during the hearing on Monday. The report follows the court’s June 10 order summoning the FSL director for failing to file the findings despite earlier directions. On May 23, the court had specifically asked the FSL to examine the CD and provide its expert opinion.
The FIR in the matter names Kejriwal, former MLA Gulab Singh and MCD councillor Nitika Sharma. It stems from a 2019 complaint alleging defacement of public property in Delhi’s Dwarka area.
According to case records, the Delhi Police had informed the court on May 23 that the CD was sent to the FSL for analysis and that the results were awaited. On May 8, the court had released the CD, containing photographs, along with a Section 65-B certificate, so it could be sent for examination. The complainant had earlier told the court he could not supply the photographs himself.
The proceedings date back to March 11, 2024, when the court, acting on a complaint by one Shiv Kumar Saksena, ordered the registration of an FIR under Section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007. The order directed the SHO concerned to also invoke any other applicable offences. On March 28, the police confirmed to the court that the FIR had been lodged.
