Rain lashes parts of city, IMD issues yellow alert for today

Rain lashed several parts of Delhi on Saturday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Sunday.

“One or two spells of light to moderate rain, thunderstorm is likely at most of the places while possibility of an intense spell is likely over isolated places on Sunday,” the Weather Department stated.

As per the IMD, city’s base station Safdarjung recorded 24 mm rainfall, Lodi Road 27 mm, Palam 16 mm, Pusa 11 mm and Ridge 10 mm.

The city on Saturday recorded the maximum temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.7 degrees Celsius.

Following the rain, waterlogging was witnessed in several low-lying areas. According to officials of the Public Works Department, flood control room received 10 complaints related to waterlogging during the day. Most of them were cleared within an hour.

The air quality in the city remained in the “satisfactory” category at 6 pm, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 93, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
