The Home Department of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi on Wednesday appointed advocate Pradeep Rana as special public prosecutor to represent the Delhi Police in the court.

The appointment has been made under the powers conferred by sub-section (8) of Section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, a statement from the department added.

The notification was issued with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor and authorises advocate Pradeep Rana to represent the Delhi Police effectively in this high-profile matter, ensuring that the case is pursued with due diligence and legal expertise.

Advocate Rana will handle proceedings in the case related to the attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Notably, Gupta was attacked by a man from Rajkot (Gujarat) during a Jan Sunwai camp at her office on the Raj Niwas Marg on August 20.
