In the wake of the Red Fort blast on Monday evening, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received five emergency calls related to suspicious, unclaimed items, officials reported on Tuesday.
The DFS authorities confirmed all five alerts — which involved unattended bags and vehicles — were investigated but ultimately turned out to be false alarms.
The flood of calls, which came in rapid succession, highlighted the widespread public anxiety in the hours following the explosion.
The first call came in at 9.15 pm on Monday, reporting an unclaimed bag in Bijwasan. This was swiftly followed by another at 9.27 pm, regarding an unattended car in Vasant Vihar.
Shortly after, two more alerts were received almost simultaneously at 9.34 pm and 9.35 pm. These calls, from Dwarka and Kashmere Gate respectively, both concerned unclaimed vehicles.
The final alert came in at 10.01 pm from the Signature Bridge area. Despite the harmless nature of the reported objects, fire tenders and police were dispatched to each location, treating every call with the utmost seriousness.
