Red Fort blast: 'No connection,' says Al-Falah University after 3 of its doctors arrested
Defence experts are calling it a 'white-collar terror ecosystem,' where educated individuals were acting at the behest of Pakistan-backed handlers
The Al-Falah university has come under scanner after the arrest of three doctors of the university in a suspected terror module. The investigating agencies are now eyeing Al-Falah University, a sprawling 76-acre campus in the Muslim-dominated Dhauj village in district Faridabad.
Defence experts are calling it a "white-collar terror ecosystem," where educated individuals were acting at the behest of Pakistan-backed handlers. Everyone wants to know how this university became a safe haven for alleged terrorists.
Meanwhile, the university issued a first official statement on Wednesday distancing itself from the three doctors arrested in connection with the so-called “white-collar terror module” and the recent high-intensity blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.
In the statement, Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand said the university has “no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the university".
According to information on the university's official website, the university was established by the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the Haryana Private Universities Act. It started as an engineering college in 1997. In 2013, Al-Falah Engineering College was accredited in 'A' category by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Al-Falah was granted university status by the state government of Haryana in 2014. Al-Falah Medical College is also affiliated with the university.
According to experts, in its early years, Al-Falah University offered itself as an excellent alternative to AMU Aligarh and Jamia Millia Islamia for minority students. It is located only 30 km from Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi. The university is managed by the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which was established in 1995.
The campus offers education in three colleges: Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al-Falah School of Education and Training. The university also has a small hospital with 650 beds, where doctors treat patients for free.
University vice chancellor said that it noted that the two doctors associated with the university have been detained by the investigating agencies, and said, “We wish to make it clear that the university has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the university.”
“We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events,” Dr Anand added in the statement.
She added the university was extending its “full cooperation” to the investigating agencies “to enable them to arrive at a logical, fair, and conclusive determination in the matter pertaining to national security.”
