Rekha hits out at AAP, says we will carry forward our plans, not theirs
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday reaffirmed her government’s commitment to fulfil all manifesto promises, including Rs 2,500 monthly aid to women under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. Dismissing opposition criticism, she asserted that her government does not need reminders about its agenda.
“We will fulfil all promises made in our manifesto whether it is Rs 2,500 monthly aid for women or subsidised LPG cylinder. Nobody has to remind us of our agenda. It is our government and we will carry forward our plans, not theirs (AAP’s),” Rekha Gupta said.
She also announced plans to engage directly with citizens, particularly women and families in slum areas, to understand their expectations from the government.
“I will visit sisters and families in slum areas to listen to their concerns. We will also hold discussions with youth and professionals from various sectors. The upcoming Delhi Budget will reflect the expectations of the people,” Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said.
Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly and BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht echoed Gupta’s criticism of the opposition, accusing the AAP of resorting to protests instead of constructive work.
“They have no real work to do. People of Delhi have given them such a slap in the face that now they are just using slogans for political gains. How many days has it been since we took the oath? Maybe four or six days since the Assembly started, and we have already announced that from March 8, we will start giving Rs 2,500 to every sister under the Samriddhi Yojana to improve their lives,” Mohan Singh Bisht said.
The AAP has been pressuring the BJP-led Delhi government over the timeline of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, arguing that women should not have to wait any longer for the promised financial support of Rs 2,500 per month.
