Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday unveiled the official logo and mascot of the upcoming New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships at a ceremony held here. The event also marked the official launch of the “100 Days to Go” countdown for the prestigious global sporting event, which will be held in India for the first time.
The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Education Minister Ashish Sood, MP and championship brand ambassador Kangana Ranaut, Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Devendra Jhajharia, PCI chief patron Vanathi Srinivasan and Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Hari Ranjan Rao.
Addressing the gathering, CM Rekha hailed the occasion as a “historic moment” for Delhi and India. “Delhi is proud to host the World Para Athletics Championships for the very first time. More than 2,500 para athletes from over 100 countries are expected to participate. This is a celebration not just of sports, but of resilience, excellence and global unity,” she said.
She extended her wishes to all athletes, their coaches and supporting teams, lauding their determination and spirit. “Our para athletes are an inspiration to the world. Their courage, dedication and sacrifices make us proud as a nation,” the CM said.
Looking ahead to the event, CM Gupta emphasized that the next 100 days must be marked by intense preparations and unwavering commitment. Referring to India’s strong showing at the Paris Para Games, where the country secured 27 medals, she expressed confidence that Indian athletes would surpass that milestone and “take the nation to greater heights on the global stage.”
The Chief Minister also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years in promoting sports and para sports in India.
