Rs 2,100 for women, free bus travel for students: Kejriwal lists 15 guarantees in AAP’s manifesto

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday released the party’s manifesto, titled “Kejriwal ki Guarantee”, ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly election, with a strong emphasis on “Mahila Samman Yojana”.

The manifesto was released in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Satyendar Jain, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai and Rakhi Bidlan.

“Today we are announcing 15 ‘Kejriwal ki Guarantees’ which will be fulfilled in the next 5 years. First, the guarantee is for employment. None of the people, not a single person, should be left unemployed. Fortunately, we have an educated team of Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain to fulfil this guarantee.” he said, adding his guarantees are “pakki guarantees”.

The second guarantee he introduced was of the Mahila Samman Yojana of Rs 2,100 per month to every woman. The party has laid special emphasis on the scheme, the AAP chief said, adding it will be done on a priority basis if the AAP retains power.

The third guarantee included the Sanjeevani scheme – medical treatment for the elderly.

The fourth guarantee promises to waive outstanding “hiked” water bills, while the fifth guarantee is of round-the-clock supply of clean drinking water to every household in the National Capital.

“After coming to power, old water bills will be waived...I admit we could not clean the Yamuna...In the next five years, we will ensure the cleaning of the Yamuna river and 24-hour water supply to all households and make Delhi’s roads world-class,” he said.

The sixth guarantee included the introduction of the Ambedkar scholarship scheme for SC and ST students to study abroad. The scheme will cover the cost of education, travel and stay of Dalit students wanting to study at any international university.

The seventh guarantee promises free bus rides and a 50 per cent discount on metro fares for school/college students in Delhi.

Other guarantees included monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to pujaris and gurdwara granthis; free electricity and water benefits to tenants, repair work of sewer lines and replacement of old sewer lines; beginning the enrollment of ration cards; life and health insurance for the families of auto-taxi drivers along with free coaching for their children; funds for hiring private security guards in Residential Welfare Associations (RWA)

“Taking this forward, Delhi govt will give funds to RWAs to appoint private security guards. Our earlier 6 guarantees of free electricity, free water, free education, scheme for free pilgrimage for senior citizens, free bus travel for women and free treatment at Mohalla Clinics will continue as before,” he concluded.
