Resident doctors at Safdarjung Hospital ended their strike on Thursday after the Head of the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department issued a verbal and written apology to the senior resident who was allegedly assaulted last week.
Dr Arun Kumar, senior resident at Safdarjung Hospital, said a consensus had been reached to amicably resolve the incident, with no intention of escalating the matter, in any form, from either side.
The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital stated on Thursday that senior and postgraduate residents would resume duties.
The strike started after a senior anaesthesia resident faced verbal and physical assault by the Head of the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department on November 28.
