A 15-year-old boy in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar allegedly died by suicide after an argument with his elder sister over a mobile phone, the police said on Thursday.
The incident came to light on Wednesday when the police received information about the boy’s death. An inquiry revealed that the teenager, identified as Adarsh, had reportedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his residence after being scolded by his sister for playing games on his phone and neglecting studies.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the boy died following a heated argument with his elder sister. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead,” an official said. Adarsh was a Class 9 student. His father is employed with an export company in Kundli, Sonepat, the police said.
Authorities have initiated proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and are probing the matter from all possible angles.
