The Delhi election office received 5,244 complaints for violating the model code of conduct (MCC) and election expenditure. Additionally, seizures worth Rs 194 crore have been made so far, officials said on Friday.
The highest number of complaints were reported from North District (1,049) and the lowest from Shahdara (136), they said.
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz said: “A total of Rs 1.2 crore monetary value of cash, liquor, drugs, precious materials and freebies have been seized at 175 inter-state border checkposts. The total value of seizures made till date is Rs 194 crore. This includes Rs 8.92 crore intercepted by flying squad team (FST) and static surveillance team (SST).”
Similarly, 15,65,550 posters/banners and other defacement material were removed by local bodies.
Vaz said voter-friendly measures have been put in place for smooth polling process.
“To ensure a smooth polling process voter-friendly measures have been put in place. These include ramps, wheelchairs, medical teams, creche services, themed polling stations, queue management mobile application and home voting option for senior citizens and persons with disabilities,” the CEO added.
“The vote from home initiative covers a total of 6,488 senior citizens aged 85+ and 1,051 Persons with Disabilities who opted to vote from home. This initiative reflects the Election Commission’s unwavering commitment to inclusive democracy. By bringing the voting process to the doorsteps of senior citizens and PwDs, we are ensuring that no voter is left behind,” Vaz stated.
She highlighted that over 1 lakh polling personnel had been deployed, along with 220 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 19,000 Home Guards and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel.
A total of 13,766 polling stations have been set up across 2,969 polling premises. Of these, 733 polling stations are designated for persons with disabilities, she said.
In a bid to enhance voter experience, the authorities will set up 210 theme-based model polling stations with additional facilities.
In order to promote inclusivity, “Seventy polling stations — one in each assembly constituency — will be fully managed by women staff,” Vaz stated.
Another 70 polling stations will be run entirely by persons with disabilities and an equal number will be youth-centric to encourage young voters.
A colour-coded system will be introduced to help voters locate their polling stations with details provided on their voter information slips.
For the first time in India, a queue management system (QMS) app and webpage will allow voters to check real-time crowd levels at polling centres.
“The app, Delhi Election 2025 QMS, is available on the Google Play store,” she added.
The authorities are also making special provisions for visually impaired voters such as arranging Braille ballot paper, Braille EPIC cards and Braille VAG. As many as 120 sign language interpreters will also be deployed.
