According to officials, the 20-year-old woman’s father, identified as Aqeel Khan, has confessed to orchestrating the false acid attack story.

The revelation came after police arrested Khan from Sangam Vihar, where he had been hiding following a rape complaint lodged against him by the wife of one of the men he tried to frame.

Investigations uncovered that Khan and his daughter plotted the fake incident to falsely implicate three men, one of whom is the husband of the woman who had earlier accused Khan of sexual harassment.

During questioning, Khan admitted that his daughter had poured toilet cleaner on her own hands to create burn marks and make the attack appear real.

A senior police officer said, “The accused confessed that the entire story was fabricated as part of a revenge plan. The burns were caused by toilet cleaner, not acid.”

The Delhi Police have now initiated legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against both the woman and her father for concocting the fake acid attack narrative.

The victim, a second-year open school student, alleged that her acquaintance Jitender and his friends Ishan and Arman attacked her while she was walking towards the college, claiming that Arman threw acid on her after being handed a bottle by Ishan. Based on her statement, a case was registered at Bharat Nagar police station.

However, the investigation revealed several discrepancies. CCTV footage, CDR analysis, and witness statements established that the accused mentioned in the complaint, Jitender was in Karol Bagh at the time of the alleged incident, and his motorcycle was also found there.

Meanwhile, co-accused Arman and Ishan were found to be in Agra with their mother, Shabnam, who revealed that she herself was a victim of an acid attack in 2018 allegedly by Aqeel Khan’s relatives and is currently embroiled in a property dispute with him.

CCTV footage also showed the victim being dropped near Ashok Vihar by her brother before she took an e-rickshaw towards the college, raising further questions about her version of events.
