Former MLA and BJP national spokesperson RP Singh met with Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma to submit a formal representation against ACP Shashi Kant Gaur. The complaint concerns the alleged prevention of Sarpanch Sardar Gurdhyan Singh from village Kalsana (Nabha, Punjab) attending the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort, despite his valid official invitation.

In his representation, Singh emphasised the Sarpanch was denied entry solely because he carried the Sri Sahib (Kirpan), a sacred article of the Sikh faith that is inseparable from Sikh identity and constitutionally protected under Article 25.

Singh described the incident as a violation of constitutional rights, as upheld by the Supreme Court in Balwant Singh vs. State of Rajasthan (2006). He added the act insulted the Sikh community and amounted to dereliction of duty, damaging the reputation of Delhi Police.
