Six jump from second floor to escape house fire, injured

Six persons suffered injuries after they jumped from the second floor of their house in an attempt to escape a fire at Janata Market in the Nangloi area of west Delhi on Tuesday.

The injured persons were identified as Pranjal (19), Preeti (40), Pankaj (40), Panav (18), Vaibhav (13) and Sweta (20).

A Delhi Fire Service officer said they received a call at 9.45 pm on Tuesday from the Jwala Puri area in Nangloi about a fire in a residential building. After getting information, three fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

When the firemen reached the spot, they found a building engulfed in flames. They noticed that six persons had already jumped from the second floor in a desperate attempt to save their lives.

In a video, confirmed by the Fire Department, people could be seen jumping from the ill-fated building as the locals stood on the road helping the injured and trying to catch them.

All injured persons were shifted to Pushpanjali Hospital. The fire brigade doused the flames by 11 pm. While the cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, a Delhi Fire Service official said the fire broke out in domestic articles at the first and second floor of the house.
