The case of a 35-year-old software engineer’s murder in Ashok Vihar Phase 2 has turned out to be abetment to suicide. The police have arrested the engineer’s father-in-law and his wife’s cousin today.

A senior police officer stated that the accused had a scuffle with the engineer at his house and then left after locking him in a room, after which the he committed suicide by hanging himself with a bedsheet. Initially, the police registered a case of murder, but after the post-mortem revealed hanging, the charge was changed to abetment to suicide.

The accused have been identified as Rajkumar, the father-in-law of the deceased, and Rohit, the cousin of the victim’s wife, both residents of Kutiyanwali, Hisar. The victim, identified as software engineer Navdeep Singh (35), a native of Chandan Nagar village in Hisar district.

“The post-mortem of the body was conducted by a board of doctors today, who found it to be a case of suicide. A further probe is underway,” said the spokesperson of Gurugram police.
