Residents met Gupta and expressed their inconvenience, saying the relocation has caused severe hardship, especially for senior citizens, wome and working families who now have to travel long distances to address water supply, billing and sewerage issues.

Responding promptly, Gupta wrote to the Chief Executive Officer of the Delhi Jal Board on October 24, urging that the office be restored to its original location in Sector-6. He noted that the office had functioned from Rohini for over four decades, efficiently serving the needs of the constituency and that its sudden shift had disrupted access to basic civic services for thousands of residents.

Following Gupta’s intervention, the DJB’s Member (Finance) on October 28 directed the Director (Revenue) to analyse the issue and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within seven days to both the Speaker and the CEO, DJB. The Board was also asked to take necessary steps on priority, acknowledging the genuine public inconvenience flagged by the Speaker.

Gupta stressed that public convenience and accessibility must be at the heart of governance, adding that administrative efficiency should never come at the cost of citizens’ ease of access.

“As both Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly and MLA from Rohini, it is my foremost duty to ensure that public services remain accessible, accountable and efficient,” he said, reiterating his commitment to uphold good governance and citizen welfare.
