A 28-year-old man died after his car was struck by a speeding Audi coming from the opposite direction here, the police said on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Sukhjit, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, the police said.
According to the police, the Safdarjung Enclave police station received an information about an accident at the Ring Road, opposite the World Trade Centre, around 6:30 am on Saturday. After getting information, a team went to the spot.
“Upon reaching the scene, the police learned that an Ertiga car, which was going towards South Extension from Dhaula Kuan, was hit by an Audi coming from the opposite direction. The Audi jumped the road divider, causing the collision. The Audi car driver fled the spot after the accident,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said the victim was shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the car driver. A case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causes death by negligence) of the BNS has been registered and further investigation is underway,” said the officer, adding that the driver would be apprehended soon.
