Two friends were killed after a speeding dumper ran over their motorcycle in Sector 65, Gurugram, on Sunday night. The victims, the sole breadwinners of their families, died on the spot while the dumper driver fled.
The deceased were identified as Rajiv Kumar (31) and Koshindra (30), both residents of Kadarpur village. Police said the two were travelling from Maidawas to Kadarpur when their bike was hit by a dumper opposite Hotel Lemon Tree around 11 pm.
Eyewitnesses reported that the dumper, moving at high speed, struck the bike from behind, causing the men to fall onto the road before running them over. A police team reached the spot and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
“Both the deceased were friends and worked in water tanker supply. They had two children each and had studied together. There is mourning in the village due to the death of two young sons in the accident,” said Sanjeet Kumar, former sarpanch of Kadarpur village.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the dumper driver was driving recklessly, leading to the accident. Nearby CCTV footage is being examined to identify the driver, who will be arrested soon. The bodies have been handed over to their families after post-mortem,” said Inspector Ajayveer Bhadana
