SPO dragged on car bonnet, software engineer arrested
The injured constable and the SPO were rushed to a hospital
A special police officer (SPO) while patrolling on a rider bike with a constable was dragged on the bonnet of a speeding car for a long distance after being hit near Subhash Chowk. The injured constable and the SPO were rushed to a hospital. The police arrested a software engineer behind the wheel and an FIR was registered at the Sadar police station against him in this connection.
According to the police, the arrested accused, identified as Abhinav Chaudhary (34), was a resident of Greater Noida. The accused works as a software engineer in Udyog Vihar, a Gurugram-based private company. The police said the accused was a habitual offender and was in a drunken state when the incident happened. He had also hit the police barricade during checking in the Dabua police station area in Faridabad in the year 2018. An FIR was registered was registered against him in Faridabad in this connection.
According to a complaint filed by the constable Shyam, a resident of Mahendragarh district, he was deployed on Rider 17 under the Sadar police station. SPO Satish was also deployed along with him, he said.
It was late Wednesday night when a police team was checking vehicles at a barricading near CNG pump. Around 1 am on Thursday, he was patrolling on his Rider bike with SPO Satish. When they reached Yaduvanshi School, a Verna car coming from behind hit their Rider bike. In the collision both the vehicles were badly damaged.
“After being hit, I fell into the green belt, while SPO Satish was flung onto the car windshield. After landing, he was left half-hung on the bonnet of the vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver drove away the car ahead. After 70 metres, he saw the SHO’s mobile van coming from the front and then he stopped his vehicle,” constable Shyam stated in his complaint.
“A police team nabbed the accused from the spot. He was produced in a city court today and sent to judicial custody while his car has been seized,” said Inspector Balraj, SHO, Sadar police station.
