St Stephen’s College, Dwarka school receive bomb hoax calls; 2nd such incident in 2 days

A day after bomb related threat panicked parents and students of three schools in the Capital, Delhi University’s St Stephen’s College and a private school named St Thomas in Dwarka on Tuesday received similar threat that turned out to be hoax, the police said.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, they received a call regarding a bomb threat at St Stephen’s College at about 8.01 am and St Stephen’s School in Dwarka at 8.51 am.

After the distress call, fire tenders were rushed to both the premises to carry out search operations.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia, the mail received by St Stephen’s College at around 7:15 am.

In the mail, it was claimed that four IEDs and two RDX bombs have been planted on the college premises and library of the college and it would explode at 2 pm,” the cop mentioned.

The police, along with the Bomb Detection Team (BDT) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), conducted a search operation but did not find anything suspicious on the premises of the college as well as the school.

The threat created panic among the students as classes remained suspended in the school. However, due to the holiday in DU, no classes were being held in the college.

A similar bomb threat was received at three schools in Delhi on Monday morning, prompting the authorities to conduct searches, but later the police declared the calls a hoax. These were the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) School in Rohini’s Sector 14, the Navy School in Chanakyapuri, and another CRPF School in Dwarka’s Sector 16.
